When Psychodrama Meets Organizations and Management Education: Possibilities and Challenges

  • Sari Mattila

摘要

In this chapter, I discuss specific questions, issues, and experiences when bringing psychodrama into organizations and management education in non-clinical settings. The primary lens used in this chapter is taken from the Indian landscape where psychodrama methods have been part of management education for a length of time. With changes in the ways organizations need to respond to human emergencies which are not likely to be those we have much experience of, management education needs to update how human beings respond to and conduct day to day activities. Psychodrama offers a variety of practices for education that can help current and future managers. These include how to imagine, step in, and develop individual and collective roles, explore empathy and vulnerability, instil trust, and explore change processes and group dynamics in organizations. However, it is not a panacea for all ills. We also may need to develop psychodramatic approaches for future needs that may be different and have layers that need complex holding.
