This study presents the detail methodology employed to conduct an energy audit of a major plastic manufacturing facility located in Saudi Arabia. The systematic approach employed includes key stages: analyzing energy bills and production data; analyzing major equipment power recordings; calculating energy intensity indices of major plastic processing machines; benchmarking the calculated energy intensities against the state of the art; collecting plant measurements; conducting interviews with key personal; identifying potential energy management opportunities and finally evaluating the economic attractiveness of identified energy management opportunities using specialized software. By focusing on the methodological framework, this study highlights unique aspects and invaluable insights gained from the energy audit study we conducted.
