This chapter will continue the analytical line defined in this paper to understand rural collective petitions from the perspective of the village social structure. Specifically, this chapter focuses on a phenomenon of rural collective petitions (hereinafter referred to as “clique petitions”) that is induced by village faction (also known as factional) politics. A faction is essentially a relationship network structure.
