This study presents a brief overview of the control strategies of the DC-DC boost converter. Because of its advantages over traditional PID controllers, the MPC model predictive control is broadly used in the area of power electronics. Voltage mode control (VMC) is used to control the DC-DC boost converter and this paper provides related equations to explain its operation satisfactorily. MPC results are compared to traditional PID and IMC-PID control strategies. The MATLAB/SIMULINK is used to show the complete setup. The benefits of MPC control methodology such as less settling time and less error are shown by simulation results.
