On Demonstrations and Axioms

I explore the original concept of demonstration in this chapter based upon Aristotle’s books some of which Prior Analytics (two books) and Posterior Analytics (two books). Having said that, Aristotle also conceives and develops his principles of logic in Metaphysics that is not part and parcel of his corpus of logic (Organon). In other words, the Aristotelian logic is well connected to the Aristotelian metaphysics, and this situation might pave the way for theologians to bring forth the Aristotelian logic into various metaphysical issues. However, most theologians miss the fact that Aristotle puts some limits on his own logic. This chapter also discusses some prominent Muslim and Christian figures in order to identifying the bifurcation of the Aristotelian demonstration and burhan in mantiq.
