In the wake of the worsening of the energy crisis in winter 2022, several Italian public administrations defined general operation measures to implement in their buildings, aiming at achieving energy and economic savings in the short-term, often without the possibility to assess potential negative impacts on indoor environmental quality. In this context, this study assessed the efficacy of some of those measures and their impact on indoor environmental quality, occupants’ thermal comfort, and task performance in a set of public school buildings in the city of Bolzano, Italy.
