Palm Oil Sustainability Certification
摘要
Certification of sustainability standards is crucial for ensuring the production of sustainable palm oil. Standards like ISO and Malaysian Standards provide guidance but require verification through certification processes. Accredited certification bodies conduct audits based on these standards, with successful audits resulting in certificates for products or processes. Many palm oil sustainability standards address environmental, social and economic aspects, aligning with UNSDG goals. In Malaysia, MSPO, RSPO and ISCC are key standards relevant to sustainable palm oil production, each with different focuses. Implementing certification schemes faces challenges like acceptance, smallholder involvement and increased production costs. However, adopting good agricultural practices can boost productivity. Overcoming these challenges requires sufficient incentives and human capital, ultimately driving the industry towards sustainable palm oil production and supporting the branding of Malaysian palm oil.
