摘要

This chapter highlights the importance of green technology, environmental education, and sustainable development in the Malaysian education system. It emphasizes the need for knowledge enhancement and policy changes to achieve sustainable goals. Furthermore, it discusses the significance of POME (Palm Oil Mill Effluent) as an environmental pollutant and its potential as a renewable energy source. This chapter also explores the growing awareness of POME and its environmental impact, the efforts to promote sustainable practices within the palm oil industry, and the integration of POME-related topics into the science curriculum. Additionally, it suggests steps to incorporate POME into the curriculum, including aligning with standards, incorporating local context and case studies, hands-on activities and experiments, industry collaboration, and multi-disciplinary approaches. The chapter concludes by highlighting the benefits of integrating POME into the curriculum, such as promoting sustainable energy solutions, environmental stewardship, and preparing students for the energy transition and sustainable development in Malaysia.
