Neuro-Symbolic AI (NeSy) represents a significant advancement in artificial intelligence by integrating the pattern recognition capabilities of neural networks with the explicit reasoning strengths of symbolic AI. This hybrid approach addresses the limitations of traditional AI systems by providing robust, interpretable, and efficient solutions to complex problems. This chapter explores the impact of NeSy across various domains, including robotics, where it enhances navigation and decision-making; question answering, improving accuracy and explainability; and medical applications, where it advances diagnostics and personalized treatment plans. Additionally, NeSy contributes to computer vision, program synthesis, optimization, geosciences, cybersecurity, environmental science, smart cities, and industrial digital twins, showcasing its versatility and broad applicability. Despite the promising advancements, challenges such as scalability, integration complexity, and ensuring fairness and transparency remain.
