Leaching is one of the important steps for the construction of the salt cavern. In this chapter, the rock salt dissolution experiments were carried out, and the dissolution mechanism of rock salt was revealed. The dissolution rate of rock salt is affected by the surface reaction rate and the diffusion rate. A rock salt cavern leaching experiment platform was developed. The variation rules of cavern expansion and brine concentration under different leaching parameters were analyzed by a series of cavern leaching experiments. In addition, the characteristics of the concentration and flow field during the cavern leaching are studied by physical experiments. A mathematical model for the prediction of the cavern leaching is established. The accumulation model of the insoluble matter is developed based on the dynamic change of the cavern shape. Based on the above theories, cavern leaching software suitable for the bedded rock salt formation of China is developed. This software can achieve leaching parameter design, optimization and cavern shape control scheme.
