After the construction of a salt cavern, the surrounding rock will creep under the action of deviatoric stress, leading to the cavern shrinkage, which is one of the main factors affecting the stability, feasibility of sealing, and usability of salt cavern energy storage. Compared to bedded rock salt, salt dome rock salt has a smaller microstructure, fewer impurities, and is more prone to creep deformation. This makes the existing creep constitutive models for salt dome rock salt inapplicable to China’s bedded rock salt. Through research and comparison of the volume shrinkage of energy storage salt caverns in bedded and salt dome rock salt formations, it has been determined, and observed, that the caverns in salt domes shrink almost uniformly in all directions, while the cavern in bedded rock salt shrinks anisotropically, with horizontal deformation far greater than vertical deformation. To reveal the mechanism of the creep deformation of the bedded rock salt, this chapter mainly reports on the following research: (1) Experimental studies on the mechanical characteristics of bedded rock salt; (2) Analysis of creep characteristics of bedded rock salt; (3) Creep model of bedded rock salt; (4) Numerical implementation of the bedded rock salt creep model; (5) Case analysis of the bedded rock salt creep model used in actual engineering.

摘要
