The Informalized University
摘要
Here, we present the case study of a vast university campus in Metro Manila that is home to about 70,000 informal settlement residents who occupy about 20% of the campus land. It shows how this production of affordable housing, transport and services is crucial for the livelihoods of residents, and for the university. It also shows how informal settlement, transport and vending operations have been largely produced by formal planning decisions, even while the plan is that they be eradicated.
