In this chapter, the cosmo-politics of Chinese ecological civilization (“eco-civilization”) is interlaced with the cosmo-politics of Sophocles’ Antigone. Recent convergences of Chinese, European, and US ecological measures reflect a promising intersection of environmental sensibilities. Ecology then may be the crossroads where China, Europe, and the USA meet; however, the cosmo-politics of crossroads reveals that most cultures have imagined such liminal places as haunted. Antigone and her family may be emblematic spectral presences at the ecological crossroads. To show why, I turn to Antigone’s cosmo-politics and then I read the ancient Greek play ecocritically along with related Chinese literary material. Such interconnected material reveals challenges that should not remain globally unmet.
