The Citizenization of Rural-Dwelling Farmers

The citizenship of Chinese farmers has its own characteristics. Given the enormous rural population, it is implausible for all individuals to migrate to urban areas. Instead, implementing intra-regional citizenization may prove to be more practical and effective. Consequently, within the framework of urban–rural integration, Chinese farmers are rapidly transforming into two separate groups: urban citizens and rural residents. The latter group primarily consists of individuals residing in rural towns and concentrated communities, as well as those who have transitioned to citizens or have become professional farmers.
