Laser Diodes for Faraday Lasers

The laser diode (LD), also known as diode lasers, have witnessed significant improvements in its performance parameters and have made substantial progress since its inception in 1962. Compared to gas or solid-state lasers, diode lasers exhibit numerous advantages including small size, light weight, high efficiency, and low cost, along with the facility for easier pumping and modulation. Consequently, diode lasers have found extensive and profound applications in various fields including quantum precision measurement, laser spectroscopy analysis, cold atom physics, laser communication, as well as national defense and military affairs.
