Return of the Society of Jesus to Portugal
摘要
As of 1923, the Society of Jesus discretely began to reopen residences in Portugal, namely, in Póvoa de Varzim (1923), Braga (1925), and Porto (1927). In 1925, some Jesuits went to LisbonLisbon to carry out apostolic work and consult the archives of the Jesuit libraries, thus opening a residence in Bairro da Lapa, with Manuel Tavares Rebimbas as Superior and, in 1928, they opened a house on Braamcamp Street to establish the Casa de Escritores (House of Writers), from Pontevedra.
