Benefits and Drawbacks of Patients Using Cannabis

This chapter presents the results in the studies retrieved from the PubMed search that explain the therapeutic benefits and drawbacks that medical/medicinal cannabis can have on different disabilities, psychiatric and medical conditions. The conditions discussed in this chapter are anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, intellectual disabilities, Post-traumatic stress disorder, West syndrome, sleep disorders and insomnia, depression, treatment-resistant epilepsy, brain injury, autism spectrum disorders, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Gilles de la Tourette. This chapter will give readers an appreciation of the potential therapeutic benefits and drawbacks that medical/medicinal cannabis can give people with these conditions.
