A Precursor to a Review of Security Scenario in Metaverse with Reference to the Security Protocols in Wireless Communication and IoT
摘要
The Metaverse is an innovative fusion of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) with other technologies and has evolved from science fiction into a transformative digital space. In the journey from basic 3D graphics to sophisticated immersive technologies for a dynamic virtual experience, the diverse metaverse applications involve the communication of high-speed data for immersive user interactions often through digital twins. Since the Internet of Things (IoT) and high-speed data for immersive user interactions through wireless communication are integral to any idea of a typical metaverse application, their security mechanisms become the area of focus in such a scenario. Due to the absence of the literature on the protocols related to security in the metaverse, it is imperative to explore this area for such mechanisms. This paper briefly explores advanced wireless communication protocols such as WPA3, WPA2, and VPN for metaverse security and secure communication methods adding extra layers of protection against potential threats. The intersection of IoT and the metaverse, along with the potential of seamlessly integrating real-world data from interconnected devices is examined too. This has been done to underscore the role of security in wireless communication as well as IoTs in enhancing user experiences and promoting real-time collaboration within the metaverse. Since the metaverse is expanding into diverse industries, this paper is an attempt to highlight the factors contributing to ensuring a secure and trustworthy digital environment. By addressing current emerging security challenges, the study should be in a position to pave the way to explore the areas further to facilitate a safer and more enjoyable metaverse experience.
