From Robots to Books: An Introduction to Smart Applications of AI in Education (AIEd)

The world around us has undergone a radical transformation due to rapid technological advancement in recent decades. The industry of the future generation is evolving, and artificial intelligence is the next change in the making popularly known as Industry 4.0. Indeed, experts predict that artificial intelligence will be the main force behind the next significant digital shift in how we study, live, communicate, and conduct business (AI). This evolving technology is changing every aspect of our social interactions; artificial intelligence for education (AIEd) is among the newest frontiers in educational innovation. This research focuses on the various industrial and scholastic implementations of AI in the education sector. It focuses on the most recent AIEd applications, including those that minimise the labour of educators, contextualise student learning, develop unique transformative examinations, and enhance intelligent tutoring systems. Additionally, the study also explores the socio-ethical implications of AIEd considering its impact on the people, especially the educators and pupils. The article concludes by discussing AIEd research approaches and plans for the coming years. The study is intended to educate the readers about the current scenario of implementations of artificial intelligence in education.
