A City upon a Hill
摘要
In the summer of 1630, John Winthrop, a Puritan leader from England, stood on the Albella Fleet slowly sailing into Massachusetts Bay, overlooking an unfamiliar continent from a distance. At some point, he delivered his famous sermon, A Model of Christian Charity, also known as A City upon a Hill. In the sermon, Winthrop eagerly anticipates the realization of a interdependent and autonomous Puritan society that has a special covenant with God.
