Improving Safety and Air Quality in the Mining Industry with IoT-Enabled Monitoring and Air Purification Solutions
摘要
Ensuring industrial safety remains a critical concern within the mining sector, where the welfare and efficiency of employees depend on effective healthcare and communication protocols. Dependable communication is indispensable for promptly addressing potential threats, while access to medical personal protective equipment (PPE) and regular health screenings is imperative. Acknowledging the limitations of current safety systems, there is a pressing need for enhancing safety measures within the mining industry. Existing safety protocols, such as gas monitoring, emergency response plans, and ventilation systems, play a vital role in mitigating risks and safeguarding workers. Emergency procedures mitigate accidents, gas monitoring identifies hazardous gases, and ventilation ensures a steady supply of fresh air. However, these systems exhibit shortcomings, including their inability to fully prevent accidents, detect all types of gases, and maintain optimal airflow. Consequently, there is a demand for system improvements. Our approach to enhancing safety in the mining industry involves leveraging advanced technology to bolster communication and implement Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for real-time monitoring of air quality, toxicity levels, and workers’ vital signs. Through the integration of Blynk software, ESP32 boards, and sensors, our system enables continuous monitoring and immediate reporting of potential threats. The overarching objective is to prioritize worker well-being by closely tracking vital signs and promptly addressing any emerging risks. Through the application of innovative concepts and cutting-edge technology, our proposed system represents a significant advancement in bolstering safety within the mining sector.
