摘要

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women all over the world [1]. With screening programs in place, especially in developed countries, more and more patients are being diagnosed at an early stage, resulting in their better survival [2]. This warrants more attention toward the management of long-term complications related to breast cancer and its treatment such as lymphedema, cardiac failure, bone loss, psychosocial and emotional problems [3]. Breast cancer treatment adversely affects the bone health of breast cancer survivors. Anti-estrogen therapy and premature menopause contribute to osteopenia and osteoporosis in breast cancer patients. The present chapter discusses the burden, pathophysiology, and management of osteopenia and osteoporosis in breast cancer survivors.
