How Social Media Affect Vacation Travel Planning?

In an era where the digital landscape intertwines seamlessly with human daily lives, the role of social media in shaping human experiences has become increasingly pronounced. Nowhere is this more evident than in the realm of vacation travel planning. As travelers seek inspiration, advice, and validation for their wanderlust-fueled dreams, social media platforms have emerged as indispensable tools in crafting the perfect getaway. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the travel decision-making processes through the use of social media, especially from the point of view of Kurdish travelers. The theoretical background of this study is based on the concept of consumer behavior, specifically the theory of travel planning behavior, and also on the concept of the usage of information and trusting the information on social media. Data were collected through survey questionnaires with travelers in tourist spots. The main result of this study shows that social media has an essential role as the source of information to help travelers in every stage of travel decision-making. At each step, the traveler uses the information to carry out specific activities undertaken. The study concluded with some recommendations for the scope of theoretical academics with the model of the travel decision-making process through the use of social media, as well as for the tourism industry to execute marketing strategies that focus more on the consumers.
