Impact of Digitalization on the Construction of Garments

The garment industry is transitioning towards digitization due to the arrival of Industry 4.0. Digitization has benefitted the industry by streamlining and improving operations through the use of CAD and CAM. The garment manufacturing process has become more efficient and sustainable. However, many limitations need to be addressed such as the high investments and enhancing the skill of the workforce. Nevertheless, the seamless integration of these technologies has been proven beneficial as it led to improved quality of work. This chapter explores evolution along with the current tools and technologies integrated into today’s industry. The advantages and limitations are also discussed in detail. Furthermore, the integration of modern technologies along with its impact on quality, sustainability concerns, and future trends is also discussed.
