Acute kidney injury (AKI) is primarily a clinical diagnosis. Current diagnostic criteria offer a structured approach to aid in identifying AKI and excluding other differential diagnoses. This chapter outlines a step-by-step assessment of AKI based on the latest clinical guidelines.
