Irritable Bowel Syndrome
摘要
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by chronic abdominal discomfort, altered bowel habits, and a significant impact on quality of life. Diagnosis is guided by the Rome IV and Manning criteria, with IBS subtypes classified using the Bristol Stool Form Scale into constipation-predominant, diarrhea-predominant, or mixed patterns. Management focuses on patient education, dietary and lifestyle modifications, and the identification and treatment of psychosocial contributors. Treatment is tailored to the IBS subtype and symptom severity, combining pharmacologic and complementary therapies based on patient preferences. This chapter aims to equip clinicians with practical strategies for delivering comprehensive, individualized care for patients with IBS.
