Termination of Pregnancy
摘要
Termination of pregnancy (TOP) can be safely managed using medical (mifepristone + misoprostol) or surgical (vacuum aspiration) methods, depending on gestation and provider expertise. Post-procedure, mild bleeding and cramps are expected; urgent symptoms warrant prompt medical attention. Routine follow-up is unnecessary for uncomplicated cases but should be available if needed. Contraception can begin immediately after TOP. Misoprostol or vacuum aspiration is recommended for incomplete abortion. Referral is advised for medical complexity, need for sedation, mental health concerns, or lack of social support. Supportive counseling and contraception guidance should be provided throughout the process, in line with WHO recommendations.
