Prostatitis
摘要
Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate gland, classified by the NIH into acute bacterial, chronic bacterial, chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), and asymptomatic inflammatory types. Diagnosis and management depend on symptom patterns and culture results. Treatment includes antibiotics, alpha-blockers, NSAIDs, and, when indicated, neuromodulators or antidepressants. The U-POINT system guides symptom-specific therapies. Monitoring involves reassessing antibiotic efficacy, repeating urine cultures, and recognizing red flags for hospital referral. Preventive strategies are limited but include reducing bladder irritants and ensuring adequate hydration. Timely referral is needed if severe symptoms or no improvement occurs within 48 hours of starting treatment.
