A Study of AI in Digital Forensics and Forensic Reporting
摘要
Digital forensics (DF), formerly a hobby, is needed in many investigations. Law enforcement, military, “e-Discovery” examiners, and other government agencies use digital forensics. In the past decade, forensics techniques have improved and are commonly used without management’s knowledge. Media representations also suggest that governments, commercial organizations, and technically capable individuals can gather important information from practically any device using cutting-edge technology and skilled practitioners, which is partially true. In this golden age of digital data format incompatibility, encryption and unskilled staff are rendering data worthless. Without trained practitioners or cyber hygiene, valuable data may lie unnoticed for weeks or months. Digital forensics research, including data representation standards, is discussed in this study. Artificial intelligence can help the digital forensic domain to do the work effectively.
