In Search of Greener Pastures: The Harrowing Experience of Nigeria’s Forced and Irregular Migrants

Chapter 2 observes that migration has shoved the world to a crossroads. As a rejoinder, it has magnetized hot and sizzling debates to the front burner of conversation. These debates cannot but crop up because migration remains an integral characteristic of humans universally. People’s itinerancy is also induced because people embark on expeditions daily for multifarious purposes. In attestation, the global index indicates that millions of people are constantly on the move. The most recent surge in migrants crossing borders to other countries is frequently motivated by a desire for better opportunities: economic, political, and social opportunities that they believe elsewhere. Regrettably, these beliefs are met with disappointment as their expectations of better livelihood in these climes are dashed.
