Climate Change as an Instigator of Migration: Its Impact on Rural Agriculture
摘要
Mfaniseni Wiseman Mbatha pointed out in chapter eleven the vulnerability of the agricultural sector is said to be vulnerable to climate change conditions because of its sensitivity to the parameters of weather which are affecting socioeconomic factors. The impact of climate change on agriculture is well documented in the literature. However, the extent to which migration, climate change, and agriculture are connected is frequently ignored. It becomes crucial, therefore, to conduct a systemic literature review on climate change as an instigator of migration and its impact on rural agriculture. Lee’s Theory of Migration was used to draw the theoretical perspective on the connection between migration, climate change, and rural agriculture. This chapter argues that climate change and migration have different influences on the livelihoods of rural people.
