Migration Trends and Organized Transnational Crime in Twenty-First-Century Eastern Africa: A Critical Analysis

  • Mumo Nzau

摘要

In Chapter 10, Mumo Nzau examines transnational organized crimes as a widespread phenomenon the world over. Criminal syndicates and their activities across boundaries and regions have been on the rise since the beginning of the twenty-first century. Extant literature on this subject area generally points to the fact that some regions and/or sub-regions have exhibited varied patterns of transnational organized crime when compared to others. Nonetheless, one of the factors that, among others, has continued to feature strongly in this discourse has to do with migration trends and their implications on international crime patterns globally. Against this background, this chapter critically analyses the migration-transnational crime nexus with specific reference to the Eastern Africa sub-region.
