摘要

As we have pointed out, more than 1.3 billion pieces of food waste end up in landfills every year. When food waste begins to decompose, it releases methane gas into the environment, contributing to climate change. CO2 emissions are often considered the biggest contributor to global warming; however, methane traps 30 times more heat in the atmosphere. Various organisations, innovative industries, conscious companies and design companies are working to reduce the amount of food waste in the environment by supporting the development of new biomaterials.
