Relational Space
摘要
From the subsumption of space, the logical scene turns to the absolute and relativeattributes of pristine space together with the elements of produced and pristinespaces. They are combined to form relational space, of which fundamentaldialectical dichotomy is contiguity and separation. Power strives to place the entiresystem of relational space under its domination and control. The relational space issubsumed into society through two processes: vertically as territorial integration, in alogic akin to Christaller’s central-place theory, and horizontally as land-usecoordination, akin to that of von Thünen. This chapter offers a Marxist reappraisal andreformulation of these conventional theories of economic geography to incorporatethem into Marxist geography.
