Due to the constraints of the layer structure, the crystalline habits of minerals typically manifest as two-dimensional sheet or layer forms. However, when the size of the sheet layers in the layer structure does not match or there is stress between the layers, curling occurs due to mismatch effects or stress, forming a one-dimensional extended fibrous structure.
