Cleavage, fracture, and parting are all ruptures that occur when the stress on the mineral exceeds its elastic limit, but each type of rupture is caused by different factors. According to previous sources (Pan 1993) and the research work of the author of this book, the mechanical properties related to the mechanical function of mineral materials—cleavage, fracture, and parting of minerals—are introduced below.
