Against the backdrop of increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their consequential impacts on our environment, the exploration of biofuels becomes not just a scientific endeavor but a crucial pursuit for a more sustainable future. This chapter explores the intricate interplay between agriculture, fossil fuels, and the transformative potential of biofuels in mitigating GHG emissions. It delves into the evolving landscape of biofuel development, tracing its origins from the early stages to contemporary innovations.
