SiC-TiC/Co Based Composite Coating for Improving Wear Resistance Property of Low Carbon Steel Using TIG Heat Source
摘要
In this investigation, SiC-TiC/Co based multi carbide coating is effectively deposited on low carbon steel substrate to improve wear resistance using cost-effective TIG heat source. The microscopic images show the formation of coating with minimum porosity and crack. Microscopic images show increase in the height of coating layer with raise in current supply in the coating process. Pin-on-disc tribometer is used to check the wear resistance capability of coated surface, which shows significant improvement in wear resistance property of coated surface compared to substrate. The coefficient of friction (COF) of coated surface is observed between 0.38–0.54, whereas COF of substrate is about 0.68.
