Effect of Multiple Heat Sources on Heatline and Entropy Generation for Natural Convection Within a Rhombic Enclosure

This research paper examines the generation of entropy and heatlines for natural convection (NC) heating within a rhombic enclosure containing a fluid (Pr = 0.71) that is heated locally at the bottom wall using two isoflux discrete heat sources. The associated fluid flow and temperature fields in the enclosure are found by solving the conservation of mass, momentum, and energy equations. By choosing similar heater dimensions and strengths, streamlines, isotherms, and heatlines are analyzed by varying the heater positional coordinates and Rayleigh number. Investigations have also been carried out to analyze the entropy generation arising out of heat transfer [EG(HT)] and that on account of fluid friction [EG(FF)]. It is observed that the position of the heater is not a deciding factor and EG(FF) is always higher as compared to EG(HT). Moreover, the maximum value of EG(FF) is achieved where the heater temperature becomes peak corresponding to the present rhombic enclosure design.
