Self-Designation and Transferred-Designation
摘要
Semantic analyses of self-designationSelf-designation and transferred-designation significantly contribute to the foundation of Zhu Dexi’s theorization of nominalizationNominalization. NominalizationNominalization can lead to changes in semantic functionFunction, transforming the functionFunction of a word from being an assertion to designation. This transformation can occur at the level of word formation or at the level of syntax. Semantically, the transformation can be categorized into two types: self-designationSelf-designation and transferred-designationTransferred-designation. Self-designation involves a change in word class without altering the meaning, while transferred-designationTransferred-designation includes both a shift in word class and a substantial change in meaning.
