This study focuses on estimating sediment yield in the Tel River basin, a tributary of The Mahanadi River. Sediment yield refers to the amount of sediment removed from a watershed through natural eroding agents. Identifying the sediment yield potential of an area is important for planning effective watershed management strategies. Which reflects the impact of practices that reduce water runoff and sediment yield, is obtained from the slope using the raster calculator. The AHP pairwise matrix is used to evaluate the normalized weight of each thematic layer, and weighted overlay analysis is carried out on the GIS platform. The study results show that the Tel River catchment is classified into five potential sediment yield zones: very low, low, moderate, high, and very high. The study concludes that sediment yield is moderate in many areas, and appropriate land management practices are necessary to prevent high sediment yield.
