In this research work, a frequency reconfigurable fractal MIMO antenna for LTE, WLAN and 5G application is presented. The overall dimension of the structure is 44 × 82 × 1.6 mm3. Fractal structure is used to gain the advantage of slow wave structure in providing ultrawideband characteristics. Further to introduce frequency switching, PIN diodes are utilized. By controlling the ON-OFF conditions of PIN diodes connected with ground stubs, frequency, and bandwidth reconfigurability is achieved. The proposed design gives peak gain of more than 4 dBi and isolation of better than −15 dB without using any specific isolation enhancement method. The diversity parameters like ECC, DG, gain variation with frequency are evaluated to prove that the proposed design exhibits low channel interference, sufficient S/N ratio and low channel capacity loss which further proves the design to be compact and efficient frequency switchable fractal MIMO antenna in the LTE, WLAN and 5G application range.
