Brief History of MoS2
摘要
Molybdenite, or molybdenum disulfide, known since 1782, is an important transition metal dichalcogenide, owing to its numerous applications in industry due to its physical and chemical properties. In this chapter, we briefly present its history, covering the structure and basic electronic properties of the more explored bulk phases. In addition, we discuss the more recent low-dimensional MoS2 structures, and their drastically different physical properties in comparison to the bulk counterpart.
