Nanoparticles have transitioned from being merely a subject of scientific curiosity to becoming an indispensable component of our daily lives and the ecosystem. Nanotechnology was well established in the past few decades and has now become an inevitable part of industries and agriculture. Nanomaterials are widely used in each sector, especially in agricultural practices. Among various types of nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are extensively utilized in agriculture for enhancing crop production, disease resistance, and longevity. The adverse effects of nanomaterials are not concealed, and there is a pressing need for extensive research into their long-term implications. This chapter summarizes the characterization and uptake of silver nanoparticles, their fate in the environment, toxicity, ethical issues, and environment safety strategies related to plant and soil system.
