Impact of Silver Nanoparticles in Aquatic Plants
摘要
Nanotechnology is a burgeoning field that involves manipulating materials at the nanoscale. Nanoparticles are utilized in various fields, including biomedical sciences, catalysis, chemical industries, cosmetics, drug-gene delivery, electronics, energy science, environmental health, food and feed, healthcare, light emitters, mechanics, optics, optoelectronics, space industries, single electron transistors, nonlinear optical devices, and photo-electrochemical applications. Due to the significant advancements in nanotechnology, silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) have been extensively used across several industries and have emerged as one of the most prevalent nanomaterials. Consequently, releasing Ag-NPs into aquatic environments is unavoidable, occurring via numerous routes. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the impact of Ag-NPs on aquatic plants is crucial. These plants are prevalent and exhibit various variations, making them significant contributors to the aquatic ecosystem. This chapter examines the production of Ag-NPs using several techniques, including physical, chemical, and biological processes. In addition, we explore the characteristics of Ag-NPs and the methodologies and detection techniques used. Similarly, we thoroughly examine these substances’ movement and ultimate destiny in aquatic ecosystems. Furthermore, we analyze these factors’ immediate and indirect effects on underwater vegetation. Lastly, we will examine the regulatory aspects and potential developments regarding Ag-NPs.
