Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithms are employed in various studies, including gene expression studies, to optimise gene selection and classification models. By mimicking bees’ foraging behaviour, ABC algorithms efficiently search vast gene datasets, identifying relevant biomarkers and unravelling complex genetic mechanisms underlying diseases or biological processes. This book chapter explores the application of ABC algorithms in gene expression studies, presenting a comprehensive case study to demonstrate their efficacy.
