Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in aquaculture poses a severe threat to human health and carries significant zoonotic implications. The frequent application of antimicrobials, particularly antibiotics, has led to a noticeable prevalence of multidrug resistance. The absence of reliable drugs and precise preventive measures complicates the task of averting AMR bacterial strains. Updated knowledge is crucial for developing effective treatment strategies and managing infectious diseases caused by AMR bacteria. This review delineates the involvement of zoonoses in the context of antimicrobial resistance within the aquaculture sector.
