Sustainability Challenges in the Supply Chain of Packaged Marine Products: A Review

The seafood supply chain is confronted with various contemporary challenges, posing threats to its resilience, as well as to food security, livelihoods, and ecological balance. Thus, comprehending the pivotal factors affecting the sustainability of supply chain management for packed marine products is imperative for several reasons. This comprehensive study compiles research from the past 20 years which includes examining various aspects of packaging compositions, product shelf-life extension, digital innovations, communication tools, remote surveillance, online services, and sustainable fishing practices in the context of supply chain logistics for packed marine products along with the bottlenecks and limitations faced. It aims to identify the major challenges or factors affecting the sustainability of both modern and traditional packaged marine products supply chains and map out actionable solutions to address them, assessing their management practices, and estimating critical factors.
