Performance Analysis of Coir Reinforced Pavement For Rural Roads
摘要
The construction and maintenance of rural roads is difficult because of its property to change in volume during bad weather condition. This weaken the strength and there by the performance of the pavement is detoriated. Geosynthetic material is found to be the most economical that improves the strength of the subgrade. Coir geotextile possess higher strength even in wet condition. This paper substantiate the enhanced performance of coir material in both functional and structural behavior. Two types of coir are used to enhance the strength of the pavement. Benkelman Beam Deflection test and visual distress survey is done to analyse the performance of coir reinforced pavement. The results reveal that characteristic deflection in coir reinforced section is minimum compared to the control section. The coir section with finer mesh has better consolidation process than coarse mesh. The visual examination survey reveal that the distress rating for coir reinforced pavement is better compared to unreinforced section.
