PET-MR Nanoimaging

The integration of positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) modalities into a single hybrid imaging modality has overcome the limitations of each, resulting in improved diagnostic accuracy and advancements in therapeutic development. In the hybrid PET/MRI hardware, nanoparticle-based probes are being designed and developed for multimodal applications. In this chapter, we will discuss the different applications of MR nanoparticles in multimodal imaging, such as PET/MRI imaging. Routinely used MRI contrast agents, PET tracers, and chelators with surface functionalities for PET/MRI nanoprobes are being developed, as well as their imaging properties and applications.
